SAINT
LOUIS GALLERIA ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR EXCITING
NEW
CINEMA CONCEPT
Galleria
Teams Up With Cinema Veteran Harman Moseley
for December Opening
|
|
|
ST.
LOUIS (October 4, 2001) -- Saint Louis
Galleria announced plans today for
the redevelopment of its movie theater
space. Located in the Atrium Dining
Court, the redesigned space will include
stadium seating, a revamped lobby
with large murals, a website for online
ticketing, and many other new amenities.
|
|
| Movie
theatre veteran Harman Moseley, who
currently operates the innovative Chase
Park Plaza Cinemas, will take over ownership
and operation of the facility at Saint
Louis Galleria. The cinema concept,
named Galleria VI Cinemas, is expected
to reopen in early December with many
changes in place. |
|
|
|
|
Moseley
said his plans call for a complete makeover
of the lobby and all six theatres. "Our
plan is to create a real Hollywood theatrical
feel for the cinema," said Moseley.
"When guests come down the elevator,
they will see an extraordinary redevelopment
on the exterior and even more when they
step inside." |
|
| Specific
plans include converting the two larger
theatres to stadium seating and adding
luxury seating in the other theatres.
All-digital sound systems and state-of-the-art
projection will be incorporated. The
lobby will be a focal point with a new
look, incorporating exposed beams and
stage lighting, along with a bar and
seating area. In addition, new carpeting,
fixtures and updated restrooms are in
the plans. |
|
|
| Saint
Louis Galleria Marketing Director Shelly Schembre
said the new cinema concept is a welcome addition
to the center. "We are always striving
to bring the best retail and entertainment
concepts to our shoppers, and we feel that
Mr. Moseley and his cinema operation will
help achieve that goal. This new ownership
will produce a premier movie venue, offering
improved amenities to better serve our shoppers."
|
|
|
Moseley
said he will work with renowned architect
Salim Rangwala and nationally recognized
artist Dick Godwin to paint large-scale
murals and transform the lobby and theatres
into a modern-day cinema. This team
completed the successful design of Chase
Park Plaza Cinemas. |
|
| Moseley,
a cinema veteran since 1977, operated
the Kirkwood Theater from 1991 to 2000.
Of his new project at the Galleria,
Moseley said, "Our goal is to give
patrons a whole new theatre experience.
Since we are not part of a chain, we
will be able to provide a different
kind of concept. And the Galleria is
the best location in St. Louis for a
cinema." |
|
|
| He
added that a wide variety of movies would
be screened, from mainstream movies for families
to more "artsy" independent films.
High-quality movies and many programming options
will be available. Moseley will add a website
with movie times and previews, as well as
online ticket purchasing. |
